uSens, Inc., a pioneer in developing natural hand-and-head tracking technologies for Augmented and Virtual Reality, announced the open beta of its software developer kit (SDK) and pre-order availability for its new Fingo hardware series at a launch event in San Francisco.

Company opens uDev program for developers to benefit from industry’s most innovative mobile tracking technology for creating natural, hands-free ARVR experiences

uSens launched its uDev network to help the developer community to integrate the company’s industry-leading, inside-out 26DOF (Degrees of Freedom) hand tracking and 6DOF head tracking technology in their ARVR projects. uDev offers full-stack developer kits and support for popular integrated development environments (IDEs) and work flows. uSens software currently supports Unity 3D, Java, C++, and C# for mobile and PC developers, with more development environments to come.

By putting software and hardware directly in the hands of platform, hardware, and content makers, uSens enables developers to create the most naturally interactive 3D experiences, pushing the boundaries of virtual reality. The company will foster an online community to provide developer support and also partners with developers to showcase new content and technology demonstrations at notable industry events.

What is Fingo?

fingoThe new uSens Fingo series offers advanced 3D human-computer interaction capability for both mobile and tethered systems, including Samsung Gear VR™, HTC Vive™, Oculus Rift™, and Google Cardboard™. By attaching this module to the front of an HMD, end users can enjoy their favorite apps without major sacrifices to system power consumption or performance – even on mobile.

  • The entry-level Fingo module enables developers to add 26DOF controller-free hand tracking and marker-based 6DOF head position tracking while minimizing consumption of device battery and processing.
  • Color Fingo is a module enabling developers to add inside-out 6DOF head position tracking, AR overlay, as well as seamless transitions between AR and VR.
  • Power Fingo is a module enabling developers to add 26DOF controller-free hand tracking, inside-out 6DOF head position tracking, and AR overlay. With its own battery and Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ processor, Power Fingo delivers the industry’s most advanced ARVR tracking solution to the broadest range of mobile devices, including those commonly available in emerging markets.

“We’re focused on building the best inside-out hand and position tracking tools that are both flexible and easy to use,” said Dr. Yue Fei, uSens CTO and co-founder. “Developers across the board are now able to have full customization and support to craft the most realistic and immersive experiences in ARVR. Without the need for expensive, cumbersome peripheral devices like controllers and cameras, a broad variety of ARVR vertical applications will benefit, including automotive, education, entertainment, medical, R&D, and more.”
