LaToya Egwuekwe has produced this video showing the county by county unemployment rates for the United States for the Great Recession.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are nearly 30 million people currently unemployed — that’s including those involuntarily working parttime and those who want a job, but have given up on trying to find one. In the face of the worst economic upheaval since the Great Depression, millions of Americans are hurting. “The Decline: The Geography of a Recession,” as created by labor writer LaToya Egwuekwe, serves as a vivid representation of just how much. Watch the deteriorating transformation of the U.S. economy from January 2007 — approximately one year before the start of the recession — to the most recent unemployment data available today.
The appalling fact is that 30 million is merely the U3 unemployment number and that the U6 number is closer to 60 million. Our economy is broken and no one knows how to fix it, they are merely covering it up with happy talk and fraudulent loans to biggest banks and wall street brokerage houses. Why is the Dow nearly at 11,000 when unemployment, bankruptcies, foreclosures, and food stamp use are all at record highs? Something is not right, the only answer to this disconnect is fraud and manipulation from the federal government on down to wall street. That is why there are no indictments, too many crooks in the government are involved deeply in this scam. Things cannot get better when the patient is dying and doctor is merely applying cosmetics to make them look “healthier”.
