The growth of the number of Facebook users has been nothing less than impressive. And, as we all know, advertisers go where the users go, so, it’s not surprising that the social network’s value has also increased trough the years, like we saw on yesterday’s Daily Viz from Visual Loop. Today’s selection, featuring works from Nanigans, Mashable, Single Grain, Get Satisfaction, and Social Media Today, focus on the history of advertising on Facebook, ans also on what would be like to have a world without it.

The problem with facebooks growth is that they’ve reached a sizable fraction of the world population, meaning there isn’t much growth left- and world population isn’t growing very fast in comparison. Also even if the rest of the world became users most of them would have much less money than the existing user base.
It seems like the IPO is timed exactly to coincide with the rounding off of that steep user growth (followed by decline or at best stabilization in a few years). But I suppose investors will convince themselves even a not increasing number of users in the hundreds of millions will be increasingly monetized so the company will still be a good investment.
