Digital Assets Management (DAM) is a fact-of-life need for broadcasters and studios depending on content coming from a variety of sources that need one central storage and retrieval repository. Where solutions range from completely self-managed black-box to cloud-based to the DIY who are relying on Dropbox and other general cloud/local disk solutions.

Libris bridges the gap between the DAM and the editing suite through its Creative Cloud Connector.

Efficiency comes from being able to access content rapidly, drop it into the editing tool as a live asset, and move onto the next task, whether it’s getting the file on to the next stage of production or sharing it via one or many digital outlets (landing sites, mobile, social media).

In the ” ____ AS A SERVICE” field, there are up and coming DAM products and services finding niches across the digital publishing/distribution camps. One of these that focuses on efficiency is Libris, with an eye towards getting content into the editing suite as quickly as possible, for the in-the-moment turnaround we now expect from social media content deliverers.

Libris makes use of the Photoshelter cloud-based platform, which distinguishes itself from competition as a dedicated DAM for visuals. Photoshelter has been around for 12 years, and knows the first pain point is file transfer speed, particularly for photographers with large groups of images that need to get online fast. They offer a few resources for that as the starting place, and then add tagging, grouping and indexing that’s image-centric.

Libris itself goes further for the editorial/design side, bringing content right into Adobe apps through an API that makes it a seamless process to open a window into the library, pull images, and work right in the Adobe app, where it is live. The video below gives a workflow overview.
