Dish TV serves us this infographic of the best and the worst in box office sales (Domestic US and Foreign) of movies released from May through August 2013—the Summer movie release season.
The global breakout is quite attractive (and clever use of dividing the hemispheres for Domestic US and Global values), the bar charts are dressed up attractively yet still quite legible, with images from the individual movies very quietly faded into the strongly colored bars.
It looks like Iron Man 3 led the pack of winners (based on data from boxofficemojo.com to create this infographic), while Johnny Depp couldn’t bring Tonto’s mojo to get The Lone Ranger from losing over $123 million for Disney, the film studio that released it…. which didn’t seem to matter much, considering Disney became the first studio this year to gross a billion dollars at the domestic box office, with successful films including (oh, what irony!) Iron Man 3!
