New Yorkers have a new treat in the famous Grand Central Station as N4D and CBS Outdoor have partnered up to place an HD 3D projection display in the terminal that will be shown daily all month long from 11:30am to 1:30pm (lunch hour-ish), along with 3D diorama’s placed throughout the terminal.  Unfortunately, they all require glasses which will be handed out to the estimated 70,000 visitors every day.

“CBS Outdoor is very proud to debut this revolutionary new step in outdoor advertising in one of the nation’s highest-profile locations: Grand Central Station,” said David Lane, vice president Digital Media CBS Outdoor. “And we’re thrilled to be doing so with Visa, whose 'Go World’ high-definition 3D commercials will create a one-of-a-kind brand experience as well as a show-stopping moment for millions of commuters.

While I commend them for their “forward thinking” in 3D advertising, I have to deduct points for choosing a glasses-based presentation method.  It’s gonna create a huge mess as people just drop them on the floor, creating waste and garbage, and probably going to do damage to the reputation of 3D as a whole in the long-run.
