Paul Lambert, Compositing Supervisor
DIGITAL DOMAIN
In the course of creating the Oscar-winning CG head for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Digital Domain’s compositors were challenged with seamlessly blending live action and CG. Lighting was particularly complex, as Benjamin is lit with candle light, full sunlight, and everything in between. Compositing Supervisor Paul Lambert will describe the HDR pipeline he built from on-set data that included more than 100 different HDR setups, and demonstrate the physically-based lighting tools developed to generate automatic, photo-real results.

The film will showcase the development of a unique toolset which aided in the transition of compositing at Blue Sky from a mechanical “fix-it” methodology, to a considerably more creative one.
