The “Federal Consortium for Virtual Worlds” is a new group of federal government employees and contractors exploring the use of Virtual Worlds (Second life, Active Worlds, Protosphere, etc) for use in government.

Registration for the Federal Consortium for Virtual Worlds conference is now open (http://www.ndu.edu/irmc/fedconsortium.html), April 23-24 at the National Defense University in Washington, DC. We have an exciting program with panels of experts on topics relevant to government, keynote presentations by Christian Renaud and Michael Nelson, PhD, over 30 poster sessions of government projects using virtual worlds, working group meetings, and a vendor fair. We will also be live video streaming to 6 different virtual worlds (first time that I know of for any conference)–Second Life, Forterra, Protosphere, 3DXplorer, Vastpark, and Active Worlds. The program is posted on the website. If you have any specific questions, send them to [email protected].

What ideas do you have for the use of Virtual Worlds in government?
