Right now my project is using OpenSceneGraph. Before that we tried some game engines. They are usually pretty full featured graphically, high performance, and often work well across platforms, but are hard to work with dynamically except within the constraints of the game engine designer’s idea of what games need. So the workarounds required to load and reload data fully dynamically, and to deal with data more generically than the game engine really allowed, kind of overshadowed the actual rendering performance.
