my rode reel short film competition 2017For filmmakers (yes, you VR 360 video storytellers too) looking to step up their game, Oscar winning actor/filmmaker/musician Billy Bob Thornton has a message for filmmakers and wannabe filmmakers alike – My RØDE Reel is back for another year and ‘anyone can enter, so get shooting you little rascals’.

The competition returns in 2017 with an increased total prize pool of more than $500,000 – as Billy Bob Thornton says that’s ‘kinda bigger’ than the $300,000 worth of prizes available last year.

From amateur to professional, all filmmakers are encouraged to take part and tell their story. To enter ‘My RØDE Reel’, people are required to create a short film of three minutes or less, as well as a behind-the-scenes reel that features a RØDE product being used during the production of the film.
The entry kit is FREE and available now at www.myrodereel.com.
In 2017, the group of five major awards featured in previous years has become six and with a combined worth of over $250,000.

New genre awards have also been introduced and include: Best Virtual Reality film (using 360-degree cameras), best 30-second TVC (Television Commercial, for RØDE) and Best Vlog. A full list of the 25 categories can be found at www.myrodereel.com.
