While CES might be the mass market consumer show and NAB is aimed more towards whatever the broadcasting industry thinks broadcasting is these days, there is no doubt that the blurred lines of high-end consumer video editor, professional video editor and everyone in-between  get softer every day, especially when it comes to technology that has matured. Monitors themselves haven’t had a big shift since the move to flat screens, but increased resolutions (4K and 8K) and HDR are where users will be going next. Sorry 3D, that ship has sailed, until we get true holographic imaging without an HMD you have to wear.

Dell has been prominent in business and specialized industries for years, as well as the prosumer market, so it’s not surprising that these ultra-high resolutions and HDR monitors are in its product lines. While high-impact and dedicated gamers might go a different direction  for monitors that are large, wraparound/curved with extremely high refresh rates for high-action gaming motion, the market of video editor/designers is widening, even including marketers who aren’t editing themselves as they find themselves spending more time looking at images and video than writing content.

Dell is releasing a series of high-standard monitors, limiting the size range (27″ and 25″) to make them viable in a professional’s personal workspace (office or home), and at selected price points that are “no-kidding” competitive for the top end pros where color accuracy and image definition are must haves and lower for those previously mentioned, where there’s more leeway yet still has to work at a pro level.

Here are the specs and suggested retail prices. See if Dell hasn’t come up with enough of something for everyone who cares:
