Alabama’s Wallace State Community College is opening a new Advanced Visualization Center and Center for Economic and Workforce Develompent that will house several visualization offerings like 3D and 4D object development labs, immersive areas, and telepresence areas.

“This is an exciting event for our college ” said Wallace State President Vicki Hawsey. “We will be demonstrating the latest in innovative education – our national model center that provides training using virtual reality and delivers learning in a simulation-based just-in-time format that can be applied to any field. “

Once you dig through the PR-ness of the announcement (What’s a 4D object development lab?) and the wacky “Watch out for the giant floating tire!”  photo attached, this is a great facility.  Educating unskilled workers not through costly physical experience but through inexpensive and forgiving 3D and Immersive virtual reality tools is the future of training, and this facility is the first of it’s kind in an area that could definitely use it.
