Advances in CGI keep driving down the costs and time required to make CGI movies and television shows, but it’s the story that keeps viewers engaged and makes them worth watching. Kids show producer Rick Gitelson talks to Wired Geekdad about how Handy Manny came about and drops a great quote:
Obviously advances in technology make things less expensive, and made it a little easier to render characters and settings and perhaps the world opens up a little more. (…) But to answer your question more directly, I do think that technology can affect storytelling, but only to a slight degree. I think you still set out to tell the best story you can, and I don’t think that’s changed since the days of cavemen.
