The Biax Corporation has put itself back in the headlines today with a new lawsuit alleging patent infringement against Sony and NVidia for a pair of patents:

  • 5,517,628 – Computer with instructions that use an address field to select among multiple condition code registers
  • 6.253,313 – Parallel Processor system for processing natural concurrencies and method therefor

This isn’t the first time these two patents have come up.  In 2001 they sued Apple for similar infringement, and over the past several years they’ve sued the likes of Sun, Philips, IBM, and more.  All the cases so far have been settled out of court, with no official ruling (that I can find).
